As a founder, I take great pride in the craftsmanship and quality that goes into each and every Nomads suit. I want our pieces to be ones you reach for season after season! Additionally, in my personal life, I experienced a significant value shift. I could not, in good conscience, continue to contribute to the overproduction and waste issue that plagues the fashion industry. At the heart of both of these issues is production.
In the past, we've tested localized production. We have produced some small batches in NYC, but most of our collections were produced by factories internationally. While there are some upsides to making garments internationally, like lower costs, it can be challenging for many reasons as a small brand (like freight costs, travel costs, communication, time differences, etc.). Additionally, being unable to visit the factory made me feel very disconnected from the production process. So last year I decided to make the significant, scary change of moving our international production to a U.S. factory and found the perfect one...
Our pieces are now being made in a woman-owned factory in Los Angeles, California!Our Spring collections are in the final weeks of sewing! As I type, talented sewers are working hard to make these pieces that will be coming soon. We actually just shipped one of these collections to a major retailer...more on that soon. Our suits are now being made in small batches, with several collections being made at once to help cut down on overproduction. We will have more content coming soon so you can see the suits being sewn in real-time.
Having the ability to go to the factory is not a luxury I've had yet in this journey, and it gives me all the feels! I cannot wait to continue taking you behind the scenes so you can see our production processes and the luxury craftsmanship and care that goes into each suit.
